St Joseph’s Nudgee College will be all about team work and scoring goals when the college opens its GPS First XI football season against Anglican Church Grammar School on July 18.
Director of Football Jamie Pybus said his side would also be more experienced in season 2020 after blooding an array of year 10 students last year.
“We have an attacking philosophy so expect goals,’’ Pybus said.
“Most of all the spirit within the group should shine through in their work rate for each other.’’

Pybus said his team was coming together nicely after being disrupted by injury last season.
“We had a very young side in 2019 with a lot of grade 10’s so we have a lot of Years 11’s in the group that have experience at 1st XI level,’’ he said.
He expected the group to be led by Bailey Dellapina and Zac Krogh, with George Earwicker, Josh Allen and Jono Caspanello “exciting, creative, attacking players’’.
Pybus said Nudgee College had a proud history of success in football, and last year’s sixth finish was the college’s lowest placing in a decade.

“We’ve had a good run with premierships in 2018, 2016, 2014 and 2013 and are usually there or thereabouts,’’ Pybush said when asked about his expectations.
“However, last year we were hit hard with injuries and finished sixth so it’s a very tough competition where anyone can beat anyone.
“The disrupted preparation (caused by the COVID-19 crisis) makes it even more predictable.’’
