St Peters Western swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan’s year to remember continued in earnst when she spearheaded Queensland to victory at the State Team Championship held over the weekend.

Swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan’s year to remember continued in earnst when she spearheaded Queensland to victory at the State Team Championship held over the weekend.

The St Peters Lutheran College Springfield student and past student of Greenbank State School claimed the girls 15-16 year swimmer of the meet award.

Two other Queenslanders, Tiana Kritzinger (girls 13-14 years) from Nudgee Swimming and the Gold Coast’s Thomas Hauck (16-17 years) claimed individual awards.

O’Callaghan, from the St Peters Western Swimming Club, announced herself on the world stage in late August when representing Australia at the world junior swimming championships.

There she claimed four, fourth placings in individual finals.

Even more significant was that they came in personal best times.

O’Callaghan was then rewarded with a silver medal for her part in the 4x100m freestyle podium finish.

She laid foundations for an amazing year in the pool at the junior nationals by snaring a staggering four individual gold medals in personal best times, six relay gold medals and one relay bronze medal.

She also helped St Peters Lutheran College to get another win in the QGSSSA in March.
