A Brisbane fresh food Mecca will recruit 150 new workers to its family-owned business as it goes into expansion mode.
Harris Farm Markets is calling on butchers, bakers, fruiterers, florists, deli and cheese specialists, dairy experts, customer service workers and back of house operational staff across both permanent and temporary positions.
The recruitment drive follows the opening of the business’ Clayfield store in December, and comes ahead of a new location — a flagship store — in West Village in West End.
A recruitment pop-up will be held today, Friday, March 5 and tomorrow, Saturday, March 6 and again next weekend at The Common at West Village, West End, where prospective employees can meet current staff and talk about job opportunities.
Harris Farm Markets co-CEO Luke Harris said the business, which had been in operation for 40 years, focused on supporting local workers, farms and suppliers.
“We source from local farmers and suppliers, create job opportunities for locals, and we really want to become part of the Brisbane community by employing Brisbane’s best – we have 150 jobs on offer covering permanent, temporary and part-time, across junior and senior levels,” Mr Harris said.
“We particularly want to welcome passionate, hard-working food enthusiasts to join the team – authenticity is everything to us, in the way we buy and present our produce through to the people we employ.”
The new Harris Farm Markets at West End will occupy part of what was originally the suburb’s well-known Peter’s Ice Cream building, built in the 1920s and now home to West Village.
“Opening in West Village, one of the most exciting urban developments we have ever seen, is a fantastic opportunity, particularly given the history of fresh fruit and veg markets in the area,” Mr Harris said.
Harris Farm Markets currently employs 3,000 staff across 23 stores in Queensland and New South Wales, delivering produce to a host of retail, wholesale and online customers.
