Witchery Orion Springfield closes down

Major fashion brand Witchery has closed the doors to a key Brisbane outlet, leaving shoppers just days to visit and grab one or two last items.

Retail casualties of the Coronavirus pandemic

A leading clothing name has pulled its store from a key Brisbane shopping centre.

Witchery has closed the doors to its Springfield store at Orion shopping centre.

The clothing brand — which is owned by parent company Country Road Group — announced it had closed down the store on Sunday, sending an email to notify loyalty members.

The store has been removed from both the Witchery and Orion shopping centre online store directories.

The nearest stores for Springfield area shoppers is now Mt Gravatt at Indooroopilly.

The withdrawal from Orion follows a sweeping temporary closure of stores belonging to several Country Road Group brands last year as COVID-19 reached Australian shores.

In April last year it was reported that Country Road, Mimco, Witchery, Trenery and Politix had temporarily closed, at the time leaving 5000 staff without work.

Witchery has been contacted for comment.
