IT’S the biggest man-made harbour in the southern hemisphere and it sits in our own back yard.

But the iconic harbour could be in for some changes and Brisbane residents have the chance to have their say on what improvements could be made after the Department of Transport and Main Roads started an online form, seeking feedback from the community.

The Manly Boat Harbour, which is managed by TMR, offers boating and cruising yacht facilities for Australia’s eastern seaboard and the whole of the southern Pacific Ocean with dry standings, wet berths and two public boat ramps.

State Member for Lytton Joan Pease said the online forum provided an ideal opportunity to capture local knowledge.

“The Manly Boat Harbour is an integral part of the social, cultural and economic landscape of our bayside community,” she said.

“I want to make sure the harbour continues to positively contribute to the community.

“The ideas and information put forward by local residents and stakeholders during public consultation will be used to inform and guide future planning.”

The harbour is also home to several clubs, including the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club and more.

But Ms Pease said she would like to see it more accessible so it could be enjoyed more by bayside residents.

“It’s vital the community has the opportunity to share what it values about the harbour, how they currently use it, and thoughts for its future,”

Residents can share their ideas before August 14 via the online forum at www.tmr.qld.gov.au/ManlyBoatHarbour.
