A flashy burger restaurant at a shopping precinct in Brisbane’s southeast has closed just months after its much-hyped launch last year.
American and Mexican-style restaurant Laid Back at Moreton Town Shopping Centre reportedly closed its doors last month – just 10 months after it opened in March, 2022.
Residents flocked to the Tingalpa venue after its opening.
The restaurant brought a new energy to the centre with a cool look and eye-catching interior decorations.
The menu featured burgers, tacos, fries and mac and cheese – the first of its kind in the area.
But Laid Back experienced significant changes in recent months, including a former manager stepping away.
As a result, many diners were posting in local community groups as well as on the restaurant’s Facebook page asking what was going on and if they were still open.
Nothing has been posted on the venue’s social media pages since January 27 but Laid Back is listed as ‘permanently closed’.
However, it is believed the restaurant could be reopening in the near future.
The uncertainty around the venue comes after the closure of popular cafe The Smokin’ Goat in February last year.
With gluten free and vegetarian options, as well as being pet friendly, it quickly became popular with locals.
The Smokin’ Goat was named one of Brisbane Bayside’s best new cafes, bars and restaurants in 2021.
Readers also nominated it for the Courier Mail’s Best Cafe in Wynnum competition.
Laid Back has been contacted for comment.
