Wondering where to buy or rent a home in Brisbane? We have found the safest suburbs to live in Brisbane’s south for 2022.

With less than 300 alleged offences between them, Quest Newspapers have uncovered the top 10 places to live when it comes to lower crime rates in the area — which stretches from the inner-city suburbs of South Brisbane, West End and Kangaroo Point, south to Sunnybank and Rochedale and east to Wynnum and Manly.

The list comes after we revealed the most dangerous suburbs to live in the city’s south last week.

Taken from Queensland Police crime statistics, the data includes crimes such as drug offences, unlawful entry, theft and assault.

Hawthorne is the 10th safest place to live with just 46 alleged offences over the past three months.

Balmoral is the other suburb from the city’s ritzy southeast featured in the top 10 in fifth place with just 25 alleged offences.

Lota is the only bayside suburb to feature on the list with just 28 alleged offences but the nearby Gumdale, a suburb on the rise in recent years, takes fourth spot with 25 alleged offences.

The southside suburb of Seven Hills is the runner-up for the safest place to live in Brisbane’s south with just 18 alleged offences, eight of those being alleged theft offences and four alleged unlawful entry offences so far this year.

A surprising suburb in the city’s southeast claims the top spot on our list of the safest suburbs to live in the area, with Burbank recording just six alleged offences for the past quarter.

Detective Inspector Steve Hollands of the East Crime Group said police would continue to be out in force to make the area as safe as possible for residents and visitors.

He also said the South Brisbane District recently established a District Tasking and Coordination Centre (DTACC), which uses current intelligence to ensure police resources were being directed into higher volume crime areas with the purpose of preventing and disrupting offending, with focuses on road safety, public safety and criminal activity.
