A Brisbane man has fronted court charged with a swag of offences after he was allegedly spotted in the city’s southwest, prompting police to declare an emergency lockdown of the area.

A Brisbane man will today face court after he was allegedly spotted in the city’s southwest, prompting police to declare — and later revoke — an emergency situation.
Police will allege the 36-year-old was involved in an armed break and enter incident at a home on Berkshire Pl in Springfield Lakes on March 18, when he was allegedly in possession of a firearm. It is alleged he fled the scene following an altercation with a resident.
The Ellen Grove man was allegedly spotted in Oxley several days later on March 22.
An emergency lockdown was declared about 1.50pm and revoked about 4.15pm after police failed to locate the alleged offender.
Ipswich detectives and specialist police found the man at an Annerley address on Monday, March 27 and took him into custody.
He was charged with five counts of enter premise and commit indictable offence, two counts each of receiving tainted property and stealing, and one count each of enter dwelling with intent while armed, dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving while unlicensed, burglary, possess tainted property, possess implements for house breaking, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 28.
Quest News earlier reported that specialist officers and a dog squad attended the area near Portal St after police received information about a man who was believed to be armed.
A resident of the street said he spoke to police as they investigated the nearby Centenary Motel.
“Police were searching the motel for a man,” said the resident, who asked to remain anonymous.
“They told us nobody can go into that room and are investigating it.
“They said they needed to keep the room as is but would not tell us anything else.”
