Move over Max Brenner, there’s a new haven for chocolate lovers.

Chocolate Elements, a Belgian couverture chocolate store, will be the latest business to launch in one of Brisbane’s hottest new retail precincts when the doors are swung open this Friday.

Owned by self-proclaimed “chief chocolate elf” Dawn Goodall and her partner, Phil Hardimam, Chocolate Elements will be situated in the heart of the rising Wynnum CBD at 81A Edith St.

Situated at the old home of Matilda The Art of Gelato, the store will feature a range of handcrafted chocolate bars, bark, pralines and rockyroad made on site.

“Chocolate Elements is the fusion of the chocolate crystals through the tempering process, the science of making chocolate,” Ms Goodall said.

“We use the best Belgian couverture chocolate in our manufacturing process. Couverture chocolate is very high-quality chocolate that contains a higher percentage of cocoa butter than baking or eating chocolate.

“This additional cocoa butter, combined with proper tempering, gives the chocolate more sheen, a firmer snap when broken, with a creamy mellow flavour.

“You can taste the difference.”

Chocolate Elements is one of almost 10 new retailers, including the historic cinema, to open in the Wynnum CBD in the past year following a development boom, which has made the previously quiet bayside suburb a destination for residents throughout Brisbane.

“As bayside residents, we wanted to provide the local community a new and exciting store offering something different, a new and unique chocolate experience,” Ms Goodall said.

“A place where you can see chocolates made on site and learn about the science behind chocolate making.

“Our future plans will include introducing speciality hot chocolate, vegan and dairy free range, blending unique Australian flavours as well as educational classes in the basics of chocolate making.

“We will also be offering a range of chocolate pairings for cheese, whisky, wine etc

“We aim to source our ingredients and retail items locally or in Australia and aim to minimise our plastic usage with environmentally friendly packaging.

“We hope our customers enjoy the experience and join us on our journey.”
