It’s showtime on Brisbane’s bayside as the area’s first cinema in more than 60 years finally opens their doors this week.

Majestic Cinemas will have an exclusive VIP launch this afternoon for their new Wynnum location, which is their ninth across Australia, with the venue open to customers from Thursday.

The opening is a landmark moment for the rising bayside town with the $8 million cinema, which is also part of the $30 million residential and retail complex Lato Baia, the icing on the cake for the suburb’s recent development and entertainment boom.

The six-theatre cinema, which features two premium Crown Lounge cinemas, will showcase some blockbuster films in their opening week with Peter Rabbit 2 as well as Godzilla v Kong to hit the screens.

Other movies such as Nomadland, Godzilla as well as family favourites Raya the Last Dragon and The Croods 2 will also be on show.

“We are expecting good crowds on our opening weekend, with some curious to come and check out the new cinemas, and others who have been hanging out for a local cinema in easy distance, and still others looking for a great premium cinema experience with recliners and food and drink service,” Mr Dell said.
