One man’s lifetime dream is about to turn Brisbane’s bayside into a beer lover’s paradise with a new brewery set to open just in time for Christmas.
Passionate brewer Richard Hudson has transformed 18 Gibbs St in Wynnum’s industrial estate into Hudson Brewing – a flashy new venue which will be the latest addition to the suburb’s growing entertainment scene.
The brewery and taproom are scheduled to open in mid-December on Thursday to Sunday.

Mr Hudson said realising his dream of opening a brewery wouldn’t have been possible without the support of his wife, Sarah, and his blue heeler, Magoo, as well as many other friends.
He also said his mission was to give Wynnum a local connection with the popular brewing scene across Australia.
“We are excited to open our doors this December in time for locals and visitors to quench their thirst this summer,” Mr Hudson said.
“Hudson Brewing will become a full-scale production brewery, with a volume capacity of 200,000 litres per year.
“While we won’t hit that target initially, we have factored in some scalability to meet our longer term goals including brewery tours, tastings and events as COVID restrictions continue to ease into the future.”
There will be four beers on tap, including crowd favourites pale ale, lager a session ale and Mr Hudson’s IPA, which has been given rave reviews.
To celebrate the official opening, a seasonal release Sour will also be pouring with rotating food trucks onsite Friday to Sunday.
With a restricted capacity of 50 patrons, visitors are required to book ahead.
