The year 12 All Hallows’ School student from Brisbane’s eastern suburbs is at the backstroke camp where she is matching it with the best backstrokers in the business. She has been joined at the camp by Rackley Centenary team mates Tom Neill and Louis Townsend.

Last year Job won a gold medal in the 50m backstroke at the world junior swimming championships in Budapest.

She is again eligible for world junior selection this year, but first has the national titles in April and Olympic trials in June to challenge her.

Job, a former Brisbane Jets junior who now trains with the Rackley Centenary Swim squad, was also looking forward to representing her school at next month’s CaSSSA Cup swim meet where All Hallows were the reigning champions.

“It is really fun being with everyone from the school and having a swim with them and all the different schools. It is great to meet up with all the different people. It is so much fun with all the cheering.’’

Academically 2020 will also be a big year for Job as it is her final year of schooling.

Her training partner at Rackley Centenary and 2019 world junior championship teammate Tom Neill experienced the challenge of mixing elite swimming with year 12 commitments last year and said Job had nothing to fear if she was organised.

“Have a plan set out. It is pretty tough handling swimming and school, but if you sit down with your teachers and balance out that plan, it is easier than you think,’’ Neill said.

Job added: “That is what most of my teachers have told me as well. I have been working with them to sort it all out.’’

GOLD MEDAL WIN LIFTS JOB’S CONFIDENCE

Job said after coming off a Rackley training camp featuring the trainer of movie star Chris Hemsworth as special guest in January, she was in excellent condition for 2020. “I am fit and ready to go,’’ she said.

Job felt her experience from 2019, which included representing Australia at the world juniors, had contributed to her growth as a person.
