The battle for a state title will heat up today as championship contenders headline day two of action at The Champion Basketball School of Queensland tournament at Logan.

After all the touted favourites for both the girls and boys championships went through the first day of action undefeated, those teams will be looking to keep their momentum rolling as the business end of the competition nears.
All games on court two at Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre will be livestreamed in this story.

GPS BASKETBALL: GREGORY TERRACE TEAM OF THE DECADE
TSS DEF HILLCREST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE 105-60 (Boys Champ Division)
We had a Gold Coast derby on our hands in the last game of the day for CBSQ as GPS powerhouse, The Southport School took on 2016 champions Hillcrest Christian College.
Despite these games always meaning a little extra to both teams, it was TSS who dominated from the outset and maintained their undefeated start to the tournament.
Preston Le Gassick continued his incredible form for the year with 29 points for TSS and was supported by Lloyd McVeigh with 23 points.
MOUNTAIN CREEK SHS DEF DAKABIN SHS 90-79 (Boys Champ Division)
The Sunshine Coast Schools Competition champions, Mountain Creek State High School rebounded from some tough losses in the past day with an impressive victory over a rising Dakabin State High School team.
After an impressive win in their first game of the tournament, Mountain Creek suffered back-to-back big losses to GPS schools, TSS and Ipswich Grammar in their two previous outings before meeting Dakabin.
Samuel Edwards (23 points) and Jye Byrne (22 points) top scored for Mountain Creek while Jack Tuson had 30 for Dakabin.
REPLAY: SOUTHPORT STATE HIGH SCHOOL VS MARSDEN 92-79 (Girls Champ Division)
The dynamic duo of Katelyn Donovan and Skye Rees have helped SOuthport State High School reach the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year.
Donovan led from the front with 39 points as the Gold Coast-based side kept a tough Marsden team at bay despite the contest being level for most of the game.
Rees, a Queensland state representative, played an important supporting role with 23 points as her team recorded a 13-point victory to move within one game of a semi-final, which they reached in 2019.
QSL talents Patrycez Ikitau (26 points) and Maya Entrop (18 points) both put in strong performances for Marsden.
REPLAY: BRISBANE SHS VS MOUNTAIN CREEK SHS 76-62 (Girls Champ Division)
Brisbane State High School will feature at the business end of the CBSQ tournament once again after moving through to the quarter finals with a 14-point victory over the Sunshine Coast’s Mountain Creek State High School.
Allanah Anthony was impressive again for State High, leading with 27 points while Grace Boyd also helped her team record a big win with 11 points.
REPLAY: ST PAUL’S V ST PATRICK’S MACKAY 84-60 (Girls Champ Division)
The surprise packet of the girls competition, St Paul’s from Brisbane, have come from nowhere to progress to tomorrow’s CBSQ quarter-finals.
St Paul’s weren’t even meant to be in the championship division but slotted into a spot after another team pulled out just last week.
After an impressive pool stage, where they finished top of their group after going undefeated, Georgia Woolley and St Paul’s will look to keep their surprising form going after a 24-point win in the crossover stage to move on to the quarters.
Woolley put up the biggest individual performance of the tournament, scoring 52 points and was supported by her sister, Kelsey, with 22.
REPLAY: TSS V IPSWICH GRAMMAR 126-78
GPS powerhouse, The Southport School sealed top spot in Pool B after another impressive performance - this time against 2014 CBSQ champions Ipswich Grammar.
Coached by former Australian Boomer Anthony Petrie, TSS have continued the improvement they showed during the GPS season, going undefeated so far at CBSQ, including this afternoon’s 48-point win.
TSS shared the ball throughout the game and it showed on the stat sheet with five players scoring in double figures, led by Nicholas Cross with 22 and Lloyd McVeigh with 20.
REPLAY: MATTHEW FLINDERS COLLEGE V MARSDEN 77-68
Matthew Flinders Anglican College almost sprung one of the upsets of day two, pushing Marsden State High School from Logan all the way to the final buzzer.
The team from the Sunshine Coast held a 10-point lead early in the third quarter before Marsden fought back to draw level with just minutes left in the game.
From there, Marsden were able to pull away from Flinders and record a nine-point victory.
Kai Bloom from Flinders was the game’s top scorer with 37 points with Tyler Ransome also recording 17.
For Marsden, Hunter Trego had 20 with brothers Phoenix (13 points) and Regan (11 points) also scoring in double figures.
REPLAY: ST MARGARET MARY’S V MOUNTAIN CREEK 71-39
The perennial state championship contenders that is St Margaret Mary’s from Townsville stamped their dominance on the competition again with a 32-point win over Sunshine Coast’s Mountain Creek State High School.
Looking to get back their state title from 2018, St Margaret Mary’s, which features a bunch of state representatives, continued their undefeated start to the tournament with three players scoring in double figures.
Chailee Ward and Bree Stephens led the way with 19 points while Lauren Andrews had 14.
REPLAY: CHURCHIE V TOOWOOMBA 98-52
This year’s undefeated GPS Basketball premiers still haven’t lost a game this year after a dominant performance against Toowoomba Grammar at Logan Metro this morning.
After two wins over Matthew Flinders Anglican College and Marsden State High School yesterday, Churchie had five players score in double figures as they ran away with a 46-point victory.
Ethan Taafe led the way with 28 points for Churchie while Angus Scott had 16 for Toowoomba.
