Brisbane southside best Christmas butchers of 2020 revealed

Earlier this month, we asked southsiders who your favourite Christmas butcher/deli was. And one stood out from the rest.

With Christmas fast approaching, the Southern Star and South-East Advertiser put the call out to find out who you think is the Best Christmas Butcher/Deli south of the river.

Nominations flowed in thick and fast – we had some true meat masters on our list, with such luminaries as The Butcher Shoppe at Cannon Hill, A&M Meats at Mt Gravatt Plaza and

GE Mallan Bulk Meats at Fairfield.

But there was one butcher who stood out in the voting, and is our Best Christmas Butcher/Deli of 2020: Mr Meaty Butchers at 590 Mt Gravatt Capalaba Rd.

Mr Meaty, located in the Wishart Village centre, is the brainchild of veteran butcher Mick Mancini, who has previously owned butcheries at Sydney, Coffs Harbour and Westfield Garden City.

Opening nine years ago, Mick said the Wishart community is the best he has ever served.

“The people I serve here are so nice and friendly, we’re all on a first-name basis and stir each other up,” he said.

In terms of product, Mick said at Mr Meaty it is all about the steaks.

“I sell the best I can get, 99 per cent of the time it’s top-grade angus,” he said.

“I really pride myself on my steaks, that’s what keeps me in business.”

For anyone wondering, Mic’s favourite cut is T-bone.
