Brisbane City Council approve Sarazin’s 368-unit, two-tower ‘Nuage’ development

A decision has been made on a giant residential complex which a big-name Australian developer believes will change the face of Brisbane’s inner-south forever.

The high-rise revolution in Brisbane’s inner-south will continue after a decision was made on a development proposal for a $300 million luxury residential project, which will feature 368 units across two giant towers.

Brisbane City Council recently approved the flashy development at 6-8 Wellington Rd at Woolloongabba from big-name Australian company, Sarazin, as the suburb takes centre stage ahead of the 2032 Olympics.

The project built across two, 20-storey towers will also include retail tenancies on the ground floor of each building with a rooftop pool deck also on both buildings.

Sarazin’s state director for Queensland Adam Rainbird said the development would also bring in more than 500 jobs to the local economy.

He also said construction would start in mid-2024 with the project scheduled to be completed by mid-2026.

Iconic family-owned Woolloongabba business, Scott Metals, will also make way for the development after being based at the site for more than 50 years.

Mr Rainbird said information on the price of the apartments to rent and buy at ‘Nuage’ would not be available until 2024.

The development is Sarazin’s second major investment in Woolloongabba after a three-building project, with one tower already built, called Silk Lane on Stanley St costing them up to $1 billion.

“There were a number of minor discussions (with council) that went back and forth … overall, we had a positive and collaborative experience with council and are happy to have received an approval within eight months,” Mr Rainbird said.

“Woolloongabba is now drawing attention from across the board for quality product in good locations.

“We have seen a large amount of owner occupiers, downsizers, upsizes and investors, all show strong interest in our product and we believe a development of this quality will create a more vibrant precinct for residents and the surrounding community to enjoy.”

Mr Rainbird said there were several reasons for their significant investment in the suburb, including its proximity to the Brisbane CBD, the Cross River Rail as well as the upgrades being made to the area. which will be the hub for the 2032 Olympics.

“The lasting effects of the city shaping investment in public transport, placemaking, stadium renewal, parks, retail precincts and residential offerings that are planned will create a legacy will beyond the event, with residents and visitors enjoying the area for generations to come,” he said.

“It’s an exciting time to be involved in Brisbane’s future and from our perspective, Brisbane is the best choice within Australia and within Brisbane, Woolloongabba is the best choice inside Brisbane.”
