The council agreed to investigate a conservation or heritage management plan for the land, which adjoins the locally significant Willard’s Farm and houses a communications building used during World War II.
The council will also prepare environmental, planning and land assessments and consul the community on the future use of the land.
A report looking at the site’s Aboriginal cultural heritage, prepared by the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation along with heritage consultants is also being reviewed.
Councillors Paul Bishop (Division 10) and Wendy Boglary (Division 1) said they were pleased progress was being made on the special site, which had been a topic of discussion for over a decade.
