A bayside father of two has faced court after drunken antics at a football carnival on Stradbroke Island, damaging council property, breaking glass.

A bayside father of two has faced court after catcalling women and causing a stir at Stradbroke Island a football carnival.

Victoria Point father Alfred Michael Summers, 26, pleaded guilty in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 29 to one count of wilful damage, one count of obstructing police, one count of possession of a knife, and one count of wilful damage to a property.

The court heard the father of two was at an alcohol-free football carnival at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island when he became intoxicated and aggressive.

“He’s become intoxicated, loud, catcalling females, making spectators uncomfortable,” police prosecution said.

“He was arguing with his friends and family.”

The court heard Summers’s friends and family attempted to calm him down bringing him to a nearby public park.

“He picked up a garbage bin and threw it on the road,” police prosecution said.

“A young child on the street was exposed to his behaviour.”

Police were called and attempted to arrest Summers.
“He started yelling, f***ing lock me up and f*** you dogs,” prosecution said.

“Police located a knife in his pocket.”

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said hearing submissions from the defence was not necessary.

“It’s probably come as a shock to you sitting under the fluorescent lights in court listening to what you did when you were drunk,” Ms Vasta said.

Mr Summers was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service.

Convictions were not recorded.
