A bayside magistrate told a young father not to bring any more children into the world after he faced court for assaulting his partner on a train.

Logan Central father Blake Williams, 19, pleaded guilty in the Cleveland Magistrate Court on Tuesday, February 28, to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm – domestic violence offence, one count of wilful damage and one count of public nuisance – domestic violence offence.

The court heard Williams was on a train with his partner and her friends from Wynnum to Cleveland on February 17 in 2022, when they started arguing.

“An argument erupted over the aggrieved drinking while looking after her baby,” the police prosecution said.

“The defendant was holding the baby and the aggrieved has hit the defendant, I don’t know why that occurred.

“The defendant handed the baby to the female friend and proceeded to punch the aggrieved in the head several times, while the aggrieved had remained seated.

“She suffered a laceration to her right eye.

“A witness has pulled the defendant off the aggrieved.

“(Williams) then walked towards the train to walk off and told her that he would put her in the ground.

“This behaviour was disorderly in a public place.”

The court heard a witness called triple-0 and the victim and her friends were located before she was taken to hospital.

Her phone was damaged in the process of the assault.

Williams’ lawyer, Tanya Lacey, said her client suffered from schizophrenia.

“My client was feeling unwell due to his schizophrenia that day,” Ms Lacey said

“The argument started as the aggrieved was drinking alcohol while holding the baby.

“He totally lost control, he accepts he has anger issues.”

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said Williams needed to think about not procreating.

“Can I give you a bit of motherly advice?” Ms Vasta said.

“Hold off on having kids till you’re 25, you might like to travel, to work, to look after yourself.

“Do you know where they sell condoms in Woolies?

“Make sure you don’t bring any more children into the world until you’ve lived your own life.”

He was given a probation order of nine months and was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service.

Convictions were not recorded.
