The court heard the 22-year-old was outside the Sands Hotel Cleveland on August 8, 2021 when he, along with three others, engaged in an attack against two men, saying: “You take him, I’ll take the old f**ker.”

“Police observed CCTV footage indicating the defendant walked up to the victim and punched him in the back of the head, holding him with his left hand (and) repeatedly punching him with his right hand,” a police prosecutor said.

The court heard Randel then threw the man into a metal awning support.

His lawyer, Sarah Churches-Kennedy said her client wants to turn his life around.

“He’s working towards a house deposit to buy a house.”

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said she was shocked seeing the CCTV footage of the attack.

Randel was convicted and sentenced to two months’ jail, suspended for 18 months.

“I’m hoping you are starting to grow up,” Ms Vasta said.
