Ormiston mum, Taylor Jade Sammut, in court for repeat disqualified drives, meth, obstructing police, hit and run

A young bayside mum’s shameful list of offences including possessing meth and a brazen hit and run have been detailed in court.

A bayside mum who provided false details to police before running from a car crash has fronted court on 20 charges, including repeated disqualified drives and meth possession

Ormiston resident Taylor Jade Sammut pleaded guilty in Cleveland Magistrates Court on August 4 to seven counts of driving on a disqualified licence, two counts of driving uninsured, one count of driving without due care, one count of failing to comply with the duties of a driver involved in a crash and driving unregistered twice.

She also pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing drug utensils and one count of obstructing police.

The court heard the 27-year-old committed the crimes between March, 2021 and May this year.

“ (Summut) Shows an absolute total contempt for the court and a disregard for the safety of the community,” police prosecutor Sergeant Duncan Blackburn said.

“She has tried to avoid taking responsibility for her actions.”

Sammut appeared in court unrepresented.

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said it was a serious action to drive while disqualified.

Summut was convicted and sentenced to two months imprisonment, suspended after 35 days, which she served in presentence custody.

She was disqualified from driving for two years.

For the remaining charges she was given a probation order of two years.
