Halcyon tenders plans for five-star self-contained over 50s resort in fast expanding Redland Bay

Plans for a flash 500-home over-50s ‘resort’ have moved a step closer to becoming a reality in this Brisbane bayside community. SEE THE PLANS

Plans have been lodged for a mega 500-residence, 43ha luxury housing resort for those 50 years and older in a booming bayside region soon to see thousands of extra residents.

A material change of use application has been tendered with Redland City Council by developer Halcyon for what would be the family-businesses’ first foray into the Redlands.

Self-touted as leaders in the luxury resort business for more senior residents, the project at 195-273 Serpentine Creek Road in Redland Bay would be nestled between Shoreline’s gargantuan 3,500-lot project already under way.

Located towards the southern end of Redland Bay – an underrated bayside suburb south of Brisbane experiencing breakneck development – it would also be the first self-contained community with a laser-focus on luxury in the area.

Plans reveal preparation for 500 low-maintenance two-bedroom residences with 85 different designs on offer on an average 175 sqm floor space.

Halcyon properties currently cater to 2,500 residents with nine properties across the state in the Moreton Bay region, Sunshine Coast, Logan region and the Gold Coast.

Should plans be approved their Redland Bay venture would be one of its largest.

A development report sold its luxury approach.

“The Halcyon ethos does not compromise on quality or value and includes all the hallmarks of an award-winning Halcyon home accompanied by 5-star resort style facilities, shared community spaces and landscaped open spaces,” the report stated.

“Halcyon seek to provide a point of difference by providing a higher quality community providing an exceptional product and service.”

It comes as construction ramps up for a full line Woolworths and a boutique marina apartment complex and sales open for two new apartment complexes mere metres from one another in Redland Bay.

And that does not include the Redland City Council-developed plans for a grand reimagining of Weinam Creek.

The flurry of activity and promise of large-scale development was acknowledged by Halcyon as a drawcard.

“This site has been selected for a Halcyon lifestyle community because of its position within Redland Bay, a high amenity bayside location which has served to both attract and retain an ageing demographic,” the development report stated.

“A strong need for more retirement options has been recognised for a prolonged period. More locally its relationship to the Redland Bay foreshore, unique natural amenity and proximity to existing facilities and services within Redland Bay are a key feature.”

Residents will be able to choose from one or two storey architect-designed plans with golf-buggy or RV bays optional.
