A chaotic outburst has left a man facing court after he refused to co-operate with police during an arrestand instead told them to “shoot” him.

Fitzgibbon resident, Luke Anthony Sharpe, 41, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 25 to one count of obstructing police.

The court heard he was at a Fitzgibbon residence on December 18 last year when a family member contacted police.

“The defendant seemed to have been under the influence of alcohol and stabbing a table,” Crown prosecutor Emily Ollenburg said.

“The defendant flipped over a small table and walked towards the sliding glass door (before) asking ‘what have I done’.

“You’re telling them to shoot you.

“Saying, ‘shoot me, shoot me’.”

The court heard Sharpe was tasered twice by police before being taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

His lawyer, Mr Crawford, said that his client regretted his actions.

“He accepts that the police action was acceptable,” Mr Crawford said.

“At the time he was grieving for the loss of his aunt.”

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said Mr Sharpe needed to move forward.

“I do hope those demons in the past can go into a corner of your brain and you can keep projecting yourself forward,” Ms Vasta said.

“Looking into the future, not into the past.”

Sharpe received a six-month, $300 good behaviour bond.

No conviction was recorded.
