The owner behind Woolloongabba’s thriving Asian-style Pawpaw Cafe is opening up a new restaurant in the Redlands.
Giorgina Venzin, 32, is gearing up to open Citron on Main Road at Wellington Point this Spring. There is no official opening date yet.
“This is my 13th store opening in 11 years,” she told Redlands Community News.
Venzin owns several restaurants in Brisbane, including Pawpaw Cafe, Monocle Coffee, Darvelle Patisserie and Melrose Restaurant.
While Venzin’s cafe and restaurant menus are usually heavily Asian inspired, Citron is set to shake things up with a more coastal Mediterranean style.
“It will differ as we will be channelling a more coastal Mediterranean menu rather than our usual Asian twist,” Venzin said, adding that she’s looking forward to bringing a new and refreshed dining experience to the bayside.
Diners can expect dishes like grilled king prawns with lemon chickpeas, dukkah and chilli oil, whole roast cauliflower with Cafe de Paris butter and balsamic Jerusalem artichoke salad with hazelnut and radicchio.
Darvella Patisserie’s famous pastries will also be on the menu, as well as a range of delicious beverages and cocktails.
Lindsay Krahenbring, who is the head chef at Darvella Patisserie, will be leading the way as executive chef in the Citron kitchen.
“We hope this will be an approachable all-day dining place to cater to everyone,” Venzin said.
“A place to spend time with loved ones. Also a place unique to the bayside.”
It will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
