Wavell State High School and Marsden State High School, two of the great schoolboy nurseries of rugby league, will play each other in the Langer Cup on Thursday, May 16, in Marsden.
To celebrate the occasion I have come up with a Wavell All Stars versus Marsden Dream Team. But who would win?
The naming of the 26 players highlights the extraordinary riches of talent which have, and continue, to flow through both state high schools.
The teams are a mixture of old and new and together they are a powerful cocktail of talent.
Current players like Kodi Nikorima and Adam Blair grace the Wavell side while Marsden is full of present day stars.
CRUISE TEN SUPPORTS SOUTHS LOGAN’S MARSDEN MOVE
These are the All Star and Dream Team outfits of today, but a whole wave of next generation players were sweeping through the respective schools right now.
Indeed only last year NRL clubs swooped to sign an array of players from the respective schools.
Wavell’s Joshua James was signed by the Broncos while Manase Kaho was wooed by the Canberra Raiders and Mark Tupoala went to powerhouse Sydney Roosters.

Tesi Niu’s (Broncos) teammates from Marsden, Augustine Stowers (South Sydney) and Exodus Semau (Parramatta) were also signed into NRL systems.
There were four Australian players — two in each side — grand final winners, Origin players and NRL players galore within the two squads.
