A SCHOOL reunion is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with childhood friends.

It is always fascinating to seek out former classmates, relive the schoolyard stories, and hear about their journey through life.

Such a gathering can reconnect friends, provide a support network for those less fortunate, rebuild links with the school community, and allow former students to show respect for teachers.

What began as a small meeting of friends from the past has now become a fully fledged school reunion.

Classmates from Sandgate District State High School are celebrating 40 years since leaving school.

A reunion is being held on April 13 at the Kedron Wavell Services Club, Chermside.

Any students from the year group that started Grade 8 in 1975 through to completing Grade 12 in 1979 are welcome to attend.

Teachers of the era, mostly retired, have also been invited, and a handful have taken up the challenge.

The first reunion for this group was held at Shorncliffe almost 30 years ago, with 80 per cent of the graduates turning up.

Sadly though, people move away, phone numbers change, friends lose touch. So the numbers reduce as the years pass.

With the help of Facebook, many classmates have been found again, with some even travelling from Western Australia to catch up.

Although just a week away, it is still possible to attend.

For more info, or to confirm attendance, email Pam Wirth at thefoleys@iimetro.com.au or Hunter McKerrow at mck02@bigpond.com

We would love to see you there.

Numbers need to be confirmed by April 8 for catering.
