Puppy thief was high on meth when she flogged $3000 dog

The court heard she has been clean for months but had no explanation as to why she stole the puppy.

A woman high on meth walked into a pet store, grabbed a $3000 dachshund out of a display and walked away without paying.

Moana Tarsha Greenland-Williams pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to stealing.

The court heard at 3.20pm on Thursday, April 30, Greenland-Williams walked into a pet shop and picked up an eight-week-old dachshund puppy from a display and left the store without paying.

The puppy was cost $3000 to buy from the pet store.

Police found Greenland-Williams, 21, and arrested her, the dog was returned to the store unharmed.

Greenland-Williams’s lawyer Shaun Kolo told the court his client was using meth at the time of the crime.

The court heard Greenland-Williams has now been clean from drugs for some time.

Mr Kolo said Greenland-Williams “can’t explain” why she stole the puppy.

She was fined $500. A conviction was not recorded.
