Prison sentence for party boy who stashed cocaine, meth and heroin in mum’s BMW

See how police discovered a boat builder’s secret drug hiding spot in his mother’s luxury ride.

The economics of the Drug Trade

Prison time is on the cards for a Clontarf man who stashed thousands of dollars worth of dangerous drugs in his mum’s BMW.

Sandgate Magistrates Court heard Jedroy Antonio Nielsen, 32, “started partying and fell into the wrong crowd” a few years ago, and has since struggled to balance his drug use with his full time career as a boat builder.

There is no suggestion that his mother had any knowledge of her son’s illegal activities.

At midnight on January 10, he was pulled over by police on Lascelles St, Brighton, for driving while disqualified by a court order.

During the stop police noticed a black backpack on the back seat, which Nielsen said belonged to him.

The backpack contained residue of methamphetamines and a large quantity of unused small clip seal bags.

Police seized the car and transported it to a secure warehouse, where they later obtained a warrant to search it.

Jedroy Antonio Nielsen received a suspended sentence for his stash of drugs hidden in his mum's BMW.

Behind the centre console was a hidden compartment with another bag stashed inside. This bag contained 3.89 grams of methamphetamine, 1.18 grams of cocaine and 2.29 grams of heroin.

A report from the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission suggests the street value of such a haul would be well over $1500.

Nielsen pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful possession of a dangerous drug, two counts of possession of a drug utensil and one count of driving while disqualified by a court order.

He was sentenced to three months imprisonment which is wholly suspended for 12 months, probation for 14 months and he was disqualified from driving for 30 months.
