A man is lucky to have avoided serious injury after shots were fired at his van while travelling on a Brisbane highway.

Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch detectives are investigating what police have said was “not a random incident” at Eagle Farm last night.

Police were responding to an unrelated traffic crash at Nundah around 8.40pm before they were approached by a 33-year-old man in a white Hyundai iLoad van, who said his vehicle had been shot at while driving northbound on Southern Cross Way.

Investigations indicate two shots were fired at the van, damaging a door and shattering a window.

The driver was not physically injured.

The van has been seized for forensic examination and police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Police have also appealed to anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time to come forward.
