A young stonemason went under the pump at Sandgate Magistrates Court today for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of company credit at petrol stations across Brisbane.

Callum Brock Heiderich, 25, pleaded guilty to five charges of fraud and one charge of stealing.

The court heard Heiderich used the company fuel card to buy petrol for his personal Toyota Hilux on five occasions between February and May, then stealing company clothing and property after he’d been fired.

The court heard Heiderich had been a loyal employee of Queensland Terrazzo Repairs for six years before a dalliance in methamphetamines sent him down a dark path.

During an annual audit of company spending, several transactions were flagged as suspicious, which prompted his managers to request CCTV footage from service stations in Morayfield, Virginia, Bongaree and Geebung.

The footage showed Heiderich using the company card to purchase almost $300 in petrol for personal use.

Heiderich admitted to his fraudulent use of the card and was fired. He promised the company he would return his uniform, a work diary that contained “sensitive information” and pay for the petrol.

After more than a month, however, he’d taken no action to rectify the situation, prompting the police to pay him a visit on July 8.

The court heard the charges had been a “massive wake up call” for Heiderich, who has since ceased using methamphetamine.

He was fined $850 and ordered to pay restitution of $299.99. A conviction was not recorded.
