Iconic Brisbane Turkish family restaurant to close with Mexican fast food outlet set to take its place
A beloved restaurant on Brisbane’s northside will be closed in just weeks with a fast food chain set to move into the building.

A beloved Brisbane restaurant will be replaced by a Mexican fast food outlet in the coming months.
Sandgate’s iconic Sultans Turkish Restaurant and shisha bar will close in coming weeks and be replaced with a Guzman Y Gomez.
In a statement on their Facebook page Sultans said they would be closing permanently in early October.

“It is with a heavy heart that we would like to announce the upcoming permanent closure of Sultans Restaurant,” the post read.
“We have had an amazing 15 years; we have built friendships, made memories and shared so many beautiful moments with our Sultans family.”
“As you all know, we are a family owned and operated business and the time has come to say goodbye and take a hard earned break.
“This chapter of Sultans is coming to an end. We are looking forward to seeing you all before we lock our doors for the final time.”
Locals have reacted with shock with one loyal customer stating she was “truly crying” at the news.
“I’m truly crying! My family and I adore the fabulous food and atmosphere of the restaurant,” she posted.
One man said the closure “absolutely devastated” him.
“Your wonderful food is only matched by your amazing service,” he said.
“Brisbane will not be the same without you Sultans – if there is anything your fans can do, please let us know, we beg you to reconsider!”
The Sandgate Rd store will be converted into a Guzman Y Gomez restaurant and drive through.
