After police seized a stolen motorcycle from the backyard of her Kurwongbah house, Lyndal Elaine Ward “thought it would be funny” if she pushed the bike down a hill.

Police attended the property Ward lived at and noticed a motorcycle in the back yard with a tampered ignition.

Checks showed the motorbike had been reported stolen from a Caloundra shopping centre.

Police seized the bike and took it to the front of the property to be picked up by a tow truck.

While they were waiting for the truck to arrive the police were urgently called to a nearby incident.

Soon after, police turned around and noticed Ward running and the bike nowhere to be seen.

Police found the bike in long grass.

Lyndal Elaine Ward pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a motor vehicle and drug offences.

Ward, 30, told the police she knew the bike was being seized and “thought it would be funny” to push it away.

Police searched the property and found steroids, the drug subutex and pipes in a bedroom that Ward claimed as hers.

Ward pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.

The court heard Ward, an apprentice hairdresser, has a long history of drug crimes but has not committed any offences for three years.

Magistrate Trevor Morgan said Ward’s claim to have moved the bike as a prank was “a novel excuse”.

Ward was fined $750, a conviction was not recorded.
