North Brisbane could be home to a drive through Starbucks cafe, after a recent development application was lodged with Brisbane City Council.
The proposal is for 493 Gympie Road at Kedron.
Brisbane already has more than 10 Starbucks cafes, with popular locations including the CBD and Valley.
Google maps shows at least five other cafes nearby the proposed Kedron site including: Farmhouse Kedron, Fuzzy Duck, Dandelion & Driftwood, Coffee Guru Kedron and more, however this store would feature a drive-through — an option limited on the northside arterial road.
The Starbucks drive-through was designed by Cottee Parker and plans are for a single-storey food and drink outlet with a maximum building height of 5.5 metres.
The cafe would be positioned at the centre of the site, with the drive-through fronting Gympie Road, next to a 7-Eleven service station already on the site.
It will be a part of the Chermside Centre neighbourhood plan with road access via Gympie Rd, Childers St and Kedron St.
The commercial showroom buildings currently there would be demolished for the redevelopment.
The gross floor area would be 168 sqm, with 420 sqm (14 per cent) or site cover over the 3000 sqm site area.
Allowing for 10 cars to be queuing at any given time, the drive through would be single lane only. There will also be 12 carparking spaces on site.
