The heartbroken mother of a Logan teenager, who died after falling from his e-scooter last week, has opened up about her “young man with a heart of gold”.

Fifteen-year-old Yarrabilba State Secondary College student Lochlen Cocoran was involved in a tragic e-scooter crash on July 12 and despite emergency brain surgery — and days of fighting — he succumbed to his injuries Sunday.

According to his mother, Gemma Corcoran, Lochlen loved his family and friends more than anything else.

“Lochlen was a beautiful young man with a heart of gold,” Mrs Corcoran said.

“He welcomed anyone and everyone with open arms and a whole lot of love. He was always the first to offer help to anyone in need and put a smile on everyone’s face.

“He was loved by everyone that knew him and will be sorely missed by everyone.

“Myself and his father (Colin Corcoran) and three little sisters will miss him so much.

“He loved his family more than anything … loved riding his scooter and playing gel ball and hanging with his mates and his puppy Ginx.

“He was the best big brother.”

Family friend Nakita Haycock has started a GoFundMe page to support the family which aims to raise $20,000.

The page confirmed he was involved in an e-scooter accident on the way to Yarrabilba State Secondary College at 8.35am.

He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Ms Haycock said they lost him four times but he kept on fighting.

“He held on like the strong boy we know he is,” Ms Haycock said.

“Lokie had been on life support for the last four days and getting continuous tests done but unfortunately at 3am on Sunday, July 17 we got the call that nobody wanted to hear.

“We were told we that we needed to come say goodbye as Lokie was not going to be coming home.

“At 3.24pm July 17 Lokie grew his angel wings and made it very known that he was okay by making the sun shine so bright.

“Rest in peace beautiful boy. You will never be forgotten. You will live on forever in our hearts.”

Browns Plains Bears Rugby League Football Club also shared a tribute to the former player.

“Rest in peace to former Bear’s player, Lochlen,” they said.

“Condolences to Lockie’s [sic] family and friends.” ️

The Forensic Crash Unit and Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Anyone with information or relevant footage that could assist in the investigation is urged to contact police.
