A new shopping precinct plans to transform industrial warehouses into a trendy collection of shops, businesses and cafes in Brisbane’s north.
The proposed site at 751 Gympie Rd is designed to bring the “active and creative community of Lawnton together” with a selection of retail shops, healthcare services and food and drink outlets.

Developers hope to maintain the character of the industrial site by renovating a pre-existing warehouse to form part of the shopping centre’s structure.
It is expected that the development, if approved, will create plenty of job opportunities for local residents, promising “employment-intensive, knowledge-based” activities that will benefit from high levels of street exposure and easy access to public transport.
A Super Cheap Auto store will remain on site, acting as the retail “anchor” in the 22,375 sqm shopping centre.
Planners worked closely with the neighbouring Pine Rivers Showgrounds and have planned to create a new pathway connecting the two facilities, so that both may be accessed without having to cross Gympie Rd.
The development application is under review by the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
