Chermside teen, 17, charged with 18 property and theft offences

A Brisbane teen has been charged with 18 property offences after allegedly stealing cars and breaking into homes across Brisbane’s south.

The 17-year-old Chermside teen was charged with seven counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, nine counts of enter dwelling and two counts of attempted enter dwelling.

Police allege that in the early hours of Friday, February 23 the teen broke into a Newport address and stole a Lexus.

He also allegedly stole a Ford Range and Audi from a Carina Heights home the next day.

Police also allege the same teen was involved in property offences in Camp Hill and Mount Gravatt in the early hours of February 26.

Following investigations by the Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch and Tactical Crime Squad, a 17-year-old boy was located at a Chermside yesterday and arrested.

He was denied police bail and was expected to appear at Brisbane Childrens Court today, February 27.

Police said they were looking into links between these offences and similar property offences reported in the Hawthorne and Ascot areas from the weekend.

Investigations are continuing.
