Girl Guides Queensland is asking people to share the yumminess that is their biscuits this year, in the name of charity.
To help mark its 100th year, the youth organisation has launched “Biscuits for Business”, which asks good corporate citizens to donate biscuits to help feed families in need.
Organisations can purchase “virtual bickies” online, but Girl Guides Queensland (GGQ) will deliver them to charities Drought Angels and FareShare.

GGQ State Commissioner Velia Nicholls said it was hoped the campaign would deliver a sweet treat to at least 10,000 struggling people, including farming families and people experiencing homelessness.
“By purchasing and donating iconic Girl Guide Biscuits, you can proudly be a part of the movement for helping Queenslanders in need,” Ms Nicholls said.
Drought Angels founding director Natasha Johnston said it was a great idea.
“It enables farming families to enjoy a treat like biscuits that they usually couldn’t afford,” Ms Johnston said. “It also reminds them, and their own children, that we are a caring community.”
However, lovers of Girl Guide bickies need not worry: The virtual biscuit campaign is in addition to the usual sales procedure of guides selling packets to their neighbours.
An enthusiastic team of 50 Girl Guides helped launched this year’s selling season at FareShare’s kitchen at Morningside.
Former MasterChef contestant Daniele Dixon led the Guides in a mystery box challenge and taught some useful life cooking skills to the junior Guide Leaders. They also prepared hundreds of protein balls to go out with the meals FareShare distributed.
