BRISBANE North organisations have received a share of more than $420,000 through the latest round of the State Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath said funding delivered in the 101st round of the grants program would be used to improve facilities, provide services or purchase new equipment for grassroots clubs and organisations.

Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard has welcomed the funding for three organisations in her electorate who will share in almost $100,000.
“Congratulations to the Nundah Activity Centre who has been awarded funds to upgrade their disability amenities block, and the Boondall Kindergarten Association who will receive a grant to replace the soft fall on their playground,” Ms Linard said.
“In addition, the Kedron Districts Junior Football Club will receive funds to upgrade the turf on their playing field.
“These projects will help our community groups to continue to deliver quality services to the local community.”
Member for Sandgate Stirling Hinchcliffe said Sandgate Squash was one of the biggest beneficiaries in his electorate.
“The club has been granted more than $34,000 to upgrade its facilities, including new court floorboards and walls.”

Member for Aspley Bart Mellish said Aspley Special School would receive some much-needed upgrades with its $35,000 grant.
“The children at the school will make the most of the new sensory play equipment which will be installed with the assistance of the funding,” Mr Mellish said.
Member for Stafford Dr Anthony Lynham said grants in his electorate would help community groups help others.
“With the cricket season upon us, there’s some timely funding for a local cricket club to purchase a wicket roller,” Dr Lynham said.

■ Enoggera Districts Memorial Hall Association — $17,188.60 to install ceiling fans
■ Gold Crest Cricket Club, Newmarket: $34,229 to buy a wicket roller
■ Help Enterprises Ltd: $18,851.12 to upgrade sensory room equipment at the Disability Care Geebung Hub
■ Kedron Districts Junior Football Club: $35,000 to upgrade oval turf
■ Samford Amateur Swimming Club: $33,166 to buy equipment
■ Sandgate & District Youth Tennis Association: $19,804 to upgrade tennis courts
■ Sandgate & Districts Chamber of Commerce: $33,667 to buy a portable events stage and equipment
■ Sandgate Squash Social Club: $34,742 to upgrade court floorboards and walls
■ Our Lady of the Angels Primary School, Wavell Heights: $35,000 to upgrade a synthetic playground surface
■ YMCA Bowen Hills: $27,689 to buy fitness equipment
Ms D’Ath said the Gambling Community Benefit Fund delivered grants for worthwhile projects from $500 to $35,000, with applications now open to community-based, not-for-profit organisations.
“If your community-based organisation has a project in mind, the Gambling Community Benefit Fund wants to hear about it,” she said.
Applications for round 103 close on October 31.
