A YOUNG man who has “been given so many chances” has had convictions recorded after refusing to leave an Uber vehicle.

Tyson Alan Sproules, 20, pleaded guilty to committing public nuisance and obstructing police when he appeared at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on October 21.

The court heard police were called when Sproules refused to exit an Uber driver’s vehicle at 9pm on July 3 in Lawnton.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Graham Turner said Sproules had to be dragged out of the woman’s vehicle by police who presented their tasers.

Sproules’ defence solicitor Brendan Beavon said his client had been startled after falling asleep.

Mr Beavon said Sproules was unemployed, had dropped out of a carpentry apprenticeship and was remorseful for his behaviour.

But Magistrate John Smith said Sproules’ criminal history included assault in company while armed and drug possession.

The magistrate said the defendant had already been given five chances by the judiciary to avoid convictions.

Sproules was fined $750 with convictions recorded.
