Eye-watering cost cutting at North Lakes Costco

An elderly woman has taken penny pinching to new extremes as she gamed the system at North Lakes Costco, outraging some customers while impressing others.

Video has emerged of an elderly woman filling up soft drink cups with complimentary slices of brown onion at North Lakes Costco.

A member of a North Lakes Costco community page captured the scene on Sunday, July 23. They stated it was “unbelievable, she filled up cups with onion she gets for free”.

“The staff came to see her, she left and then she came back 10 minutes later to do the same. She had plenty of cups in her bag.”

Other customers expressed their concern and bewilderment on social media.

“That is just disgusting, now I know why there’s never any onions,” they said.

“Leave her alone, she’s elderly and maybe can’t afford much. She’s obviously paid for the cups as they don’t give them away,” said one other community member.

Finding innovative ways to save money is not new to members of the retail giant.

North Lakes Costco shoppers said they had seen all types of frugal behaviour.

“I witnessed one lady fill two of the big plastic bags from the meat section full of ice. She actually emptied one of the machines out.”
