Fiery explosions shake homes and rock community

A family has been left devastated after a truck fire north of Brisbane claimed the life of the driver.

A North Lakes community has been rattled overnight as locals woke to sounds of explosions from a truck fire which has killed one person.

Police have confirmed the driver perished in the fire and the death is being treated as non-suspicious.

The truck was parked on Burke Crescent at North Lakes — burnt to a crisp.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Burke Crescent in North Lakes at midnight, when the cab of a food courier truck became fully engulfed in flames.

One firefighter in breathing apparatus worked to extinguish the fire, which was out just after midnight.

Family has confirmed via social media that the driver and sole occupant perished in the fire.

Chatter of the explosion has spread on local Facebook community groups.

One local said they heard the explosion from Kallangur, another said they heard it all the way from Petrie.

Another woman, who lived nearby at North Lakes, said the explosion was loud and it felt like the house shook.
