Crime scene declared after suspicious Redcliffe house fire

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at an ‘uninhabited’ house north of Brisbane.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire after a house north of Brisbane caught fire early on Friday morning.

Police say emergency services arrived to the fire on Chartwell St in Margate at 1am Friday to find the house well alight.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire was believed to have started in the kitchen and was extinguished within 20 minutes.

“It did appear to be uninhabited,” she said.

A crime scene has been declared and police are now appealing for any witnesses or those with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
