Santa will be making a month-long detour to every corner of the Moreton Bay Region, so you’re sure to catch him not far from home this year.

Running every Sunday from November 24 to December 15, the Christmas in the Moreton Bay Region program features free family-friendly Christmas carols events at four local parks.

The first is at Caboolture on November 24, followed by the North Lakes event on December 1, Scarborough on December 8 and Pine Rivers on December 15.

Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) Chairman Shane Newcombe says the schedule ensures all families can enjoy the Christmas Spirit, no matter where they live.

“Families can look forward to a full festive entertainment program with live music, dance performances and of course carolling,” Mr Newcombe says.

“Due to the declared state of emergency and ongoing dry conditions, we have made the decision to cancel fireworks planned for the events.”

To support communities affected by fire, MBRIT will make a donation to the Queensland Bushfire Appeal and donation points will be available Christmas carol events for residents also wishing to donate.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland says his family looks forward to Christmas carols events every year.

“Some of our happiest family memories at Christmas are of the excitement our kids had at local Christmas carols,” he recalls.

“All you need is a blanket or chair and you can enjoy a great evening of entertainment.”

The always-popular Santa’s Village will return with free Christmas craft activities and workshops, and free face painting.

Santa Claus will make a special guest appearance at each event.

Unique gifts and treats will be available in the market zone, for those needing to do some last-minute Christmas shopping, while food aficionados can choose from a variety of tasty eats on offer at each event.

Christmas in the Moreton Bay Region doesn’t end with just these four events, MBRIT and Moreton Bay Regional Council are also supporting an extended calendar of Christmas events this year.

These events are run by local community groups and take place all over the region throughout December.
