A Moreton Bay man pulled a crossbow on a Kallangur woman after following her husband home over an earlier verbal exchange.

Wayne Edward Schrader, 48, says he followed the man home to his apartment complex to get his motorcycle registration after he allegedly threw rubbish in his ute.

But police prosecutor Andrea Ford told Pine Rivers Magistrates Court the incident followed an earlier argument in Kallangur in July 2022.

Sergeant Ford said while in the apartment complex, Schrader reversed into the man’s black Kawasaki, causing damage, before the motorcyclist’s wife confronted him.

She said Schrader took a compound bow out of the back of his ute and aimed it down the driveway at her before getting back in his ute and driving off.

Schrader pleaded guilty on Wednesday to going armed to cause fear and wilful damage.

Defence lawyer Mark Zeller said Schrader had followed the motorcyclist home after he had thrown rubbish in the back of his ute to get the motorbike registration.

He said his client pulled out the crossbow when he saw people walking up the driveway towards him.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy said Schrader’s actions were a “significant over-reaction” to the situation.

Schrader was convicted and fined $1500.
