US burger franchise Carl’s Jnr is expected to open at Rothwell in November

A CARL’S Jr restaurant will open on the site of a well-known family-run business north of Brisbane, that closed down after some 50 years on the spot.

The wait is almost over for the first Carl’s Jr restaurant to open north of Brisbane.

It was announced in October 2017 that the popular US burger franchise would open a store in the new Rothwell Village development, near Deception Bay.

Rothwell Village is expected to be open by the end of November.

The development replaced the Redcliffe Produce store, which had occupied the site on the corner of Morris and Deception Bay roads for more than 50 years.

Once complete the shopping precinct will include a 7 Eleven service station, Oporto, Carl’s Jr, Starbucks and IMO Car Wash.

Synergy Property is handling the leasing of the shopping precinct.

The Acquisitions and Leasing Manager Steen Carlson said development was “slightly behind”.

He said Carl’s Jr and other shops were expected to open mid November.

Mr Carlson said there were still 60-300 sqm sites for lease, which would be suitable for medical or food and beverage related businesses.

It has created between 70 and 80 jobs during construction.

Mr Carlson said it was expected to create more than 200 jobs once complete.

The Rothwell Edge shopping development, approved for Anzac Ave, is yet to start.
