REDCLIFFE Dolphins coach Adam Mogg says Jon Reuben is the final piece of the puzzle for the club’s 2020 Intrust Super Cup side.
Reuben, 26, from Townsville is an experienced Intrust player – spending four years playing for his home team the Blackhawks and last season with the Sunshine Coast Falcons.
He was named winger of the year in 2019 and also dubbed the leading try scorer of the year with an impressive 23 tries in 19 games.

Reuben said it was the Dolphins affiliation with the Broncos and opportunity to do a pre-season with the NRL club that lead him to make the move.
“The ultimate goal is to make the NRL,” Reuben said.
“I am really hoping to get a call up to the Broncos, I set my goals high and if the opportunity comes I’ll take it with both hands.
“There were four players from the Dolphins last year (who were called up to the Broncos), so who knows what 2020 can bring for myself.”
It has been a tough off-season for Reuben, who tore his hamstring at the end of last year.
But he said he is fighting fit and eager to pull on a Dolphins jersey for the first time.
Reuben has only done three sessions with the Peninsula side.
“It has been really good, I am still getting to know the boys but they are all really easy to get along with and have been very welcoming,” he said.
The season is set to kick off on March 14 with Dolphins playing Reuben’s former team the Sunshine Coast Falcons.
“When you look at the draw you always look for the teams you have been at,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to playing back in Townsville, playing in front of my family and playing against the Falcons, it is always exciting to play against old teams.”
Mogg said he had been looking to strengthen the squad this year.
“Jono has been on the fringe of getting in the NRL for a couple of years now, I’m pretty excited and hopefully we can help him get in the NRL,” he said.
Mogg said Jon brought many assets to the club but his speed and ability to score tries were at the top of the list.
“He has been among the top wingers in the competition for the past three years,” he said.
The Intrust Super Cup season is due to kick off on March 14.
Mogg said while the side had put in a good pre-season so far, there was still a lot of work to do.
“It is a really awesome bunch of guys, I have really enjoyed the pre-season this year, more than I ever have before to be honest,” he said.
The coach said Cameron Cullen was back running, after missing the 2019 season due to injury, and Ipswich transfers Marmin Barba and Ben Shea were also training hard.
“We are really happy with our group, we have really good depth,” Mogg said.
While a successful season is always a coaches main priority Mogg said he also hoped to be able to help Ruben and a couple of other Dolphins players secure NRL contracts by the end of the season.
“I’d love to see Tyson Gamble play NRL this year and Jamal Hopoate, they are two great guys with great work ethics,” Mogg said.
