A teen who was banned from seeing his mother and spent his 19th birthday behind bars has been granted bail on a whopping 24 charges.
Bowie Larnach’s freedom hinged on a decision by Caboolture magistrate Peter Hasted today, when the defendant appeared in court on one count each of stealing and possessing property believed to be used in relation to a drug offence.
The court heard the Landsborough resident, who appeared via video link from jail, had already been granted bail on another 22 charges in Brisbane Magistrates Court last Friday, but still needed to apply for bail on the remaining two alleged offences.
The huge list of charges included failing to appear in court, stealing, possessing knives in public, wilful damage and going armed to cause fear.
The court heard Larnach — who had his 19th birthday while in custody last Sunday — had been behind bars for some three months and that a court order prevented him from seeing his mother.
“I’m bound by the decision of Her Honour,” Mr Hasted said.
Larnach was granted bail on the condition he did not contact his mother and lived with an aunt in Landsborough, north of Caboolture.
He will return to Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
