There is still no firm date on when the trial for a new inflatable water park in southeast Queensland will start.
The new aqua park was expected to be trialled at Pelican Park Clontarf, just north of Brisbane, during the summer school holidays.
It is part of the Redcliffe Foreshore Master Plan adopted by Moreton Bay Regional Council last year.
An inflatable water park was the most popular idea put forward by residents and business owners during the master plan’s consultation sessions.
But with summer holidays drawing to a close there is still no set date on when the trial will start.
A Moreton Bay Regional Council spokesman said delays had been caused by the caretaker mode during the state election. He said the trial would proceed once all the approvals were in place.
“Additional technical studies have been undertaken to ensure the long-term sustainability of a water park within Redcliffe’s marine environment and seagrass beds,” the spokesman said.
“In fact just last week we received the first and most important approval, a Marine Park Permit for the proposed tourist facility to operate in the Moreton Bay Marine Park.”
Council still needs construction and operational works approvals before the project can go ahead.
