A development application for a massive Anaconda HQ, scooter/bike track, water play area, and more has been lodged with a council north of Brisbane.
The development application, lodged on December 24, 2020, is for the Anaconda Adventure HQ. It will include showrooms, outdoor sales, a cafe, an indoor sport and recreation centre, and more.
It will be located at 383 – 385 South Pine Road, Brendale, in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area.
Anaconda was founded in 2004 and is an outdoor adventure and sporting retailer.
The proposal, as designed by Buchan Group, is for a single storey showroom building and a two storey retail building. There would also be an outdoor bike and scooter track around an outdoor caravan and camping display.
The two storey building will provide retail showroom tenancies on both levels. The upper level would be used as an indoor sport and recreation facility.
There are also plans for a cafe, providing food and drink, with outdoor seating which would be close to a water and nature play area.
The DA application area is 84,190sqm of the total site area of 152,200sqm. The total development will be 19,835sqm.
With the 8,500m2 Anaconda Adventure HQ offering its customers a range of indoor and outdoorsporting, boating, camping needs with ancillary outdoor sales and a chance to ‘try before they buy’.
The showroom and indoor sport and recreation centre will be a total of 11,335sqm.
All up there will be 530 car parks, 28 bike parks, and 12 PWD spaces are provided via a new separate entrance from South Pine Road and Old North Road.
The proposed building height of the Anaconda Adventure HQ and showrooms will be up to 11 metres (measured from building pad level post earthworks).
According to the planners it will be a store like no other.
“Anaconda is one of the largest and one-stop-shop for all sporting and outdoor adventure retailers offering a range of camping, hiking, 4WD, water sports, cycling fishing, boating gear,” the DA said.
“The store also given the location of the site at a gateway to Brendale, the development adopts an innovative architectural and approach to urban design for a development of this type.
“Notably, the development includes an exciting façade treatments to South Pine Road and Old North Road and the provision of significant shade areas at the main building frontage, inclusive of outdoor recreational and sale areas”.
There are three Anaconda stores nearby, however they are fairly well spread out across the coastline with one at Everton Park, Morayfield, and North Lakes.
Two pre-lodgement meetings were held between the DA applicant and Moreton Bay Regional Counci lofficers last year on July 8 and December 1, 2021.
