Two charged over alleged Bruce Hwy drive-by shooting

Two people have been charged after shots were allegedly fired from a moving vehicle on the Bruce Hwy north of Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon.

Two men have been charged after an alleged shooting on a major highway north of Brisbane resulted in a large-scale police pursuit.

Police will allege they were called to the Bruce Highway near the northbound Murrumba Downs exit after reports shots had been fired from a car around 1.20pm on Wednesday.

Police located the car before it allegedly fled and went back onto the Bruce Highway northbound at Northlakes.

The car was then tracked by Polair driving towards Morayfield before turning around through Carseldine.

A tyre deflation device was used at Mount Samson but the car then continued on the road before allegedly being dumped at Watson Road at Armstrong Creek.

The two men allegedly fled on foot but were found by a police dog and officers near Watson Road and were taken into custody.

During initial searches of the vehicle police were unable to locate any firearms, however investigations into these incidents remain ongoing and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

A 26-year-old Bli Bli man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstruct police officer, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils that had been used, endangering the safe use of vehicles and related transport infrastructure.

A 26-year-old Greenbank man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, obstruct police officer, unlicensed driving, fail to comply with requirement to stop vehicle, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, endangering the safe use of vehicles and related transport infrastructure.

Both men were refused police bail and are due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today, July 24.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed these incidents, or may have relevant CCTV or dashcam, to come forward
