A shopping centre hopes to transform an unused outdoor seating space and three retail tenancies into a new mini golf and entertainment precinct.

The proposed 18-hole course will feature a cave, 3D sculpted ship and undersea themed mural art.

Along with two party rooms, a bar, kitchen, restaurant and gelato servery.

Urbis Pty Ltd lodged the application with Moreton Bay Regional Council on May 19, on behalf of Bluewater Square Shopping Centre.

The two-storey shopping centre, at 20 Anzac Ave, was built in 2008.

Elanor Investors Group purchased the centre in 2017 for $55 million from private equity group Alceon.

The centre is currently home to a Woolworths supermarket, medical services, the Redcliffe Electorate Office, a chemist, several food outlets, newsagency and Commonwealth Bank branch.

Three existing tenancies and the outdoor seating areas will be amalgamated to create space for the new Undersea Putt and Play precinct.

If approved it would be the first step towards revitalising the top end of the Redcliffe foreshore business precinct.

Redcliffe Peninsula Chamber of Commerce president Brad Flynn said it sounds like an “awesome” proposal.

“That corner is just an amazing opportunity but has never had a business in there that has been able to smash it,” Mr Flynn said.

“It is fantastic, there will be local jobs that come out of it and smart businesses would be looking to partner with these guys.”

Mr Flynn said an attraction like this would give families even more reason to come and spend a day or weekend in Redcliffe.

“We have Aquasplash, Settlement Cove Lagoon, plenty of really good parks and playgrounds, the jumping pillow – people can really make a day or a weekend trip to Redcliffe,” he said.

“When we get people staying overnight we get more money into the community.”

Developer Traders in Purple have plans to redevelop the block across the road from the shopping centre at 1 Redcliffe Pde.

While they are yet to officially lodge a development application, the developer has held community consultation sessions over plans to build two towers, with one up to 30 storeys tall, a laneway, green space, short term accommodation options, apartments, dining precincts and retail options.

It would be the only mini golf course on the Redcliffe Peninsula. There are nearby courses at Deception Bay and Caboolture.
